Roomba X40 from iRobot With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads). It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads. The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep. It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone. 4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads. The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions. Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute called “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be. For larger homes it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3 The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. best automatic vacuum cleaner is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any “no-go” areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning. It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
